November Member Meetings

We will continue to have our CSTA-MN member meetings be offered at two different times next week in order to best accommodate your different schedules.
 
We’ll host CSTA-MN meetings (typically) on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Learn more about Minnesota CS policy updates, CSEdWeek, and CS resources our own Midwest educators are promoting in their classrooms.

CSTA CSEdWeek Kickoff: Impacts of Computing - This event will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023, from 6-7 p.m. CT.; Register here.
 
Join CSTA leaders on Monday, December 4, 2023, from 6-7 p.m. CT as we kick off CSEdWeek 2023. CSEdWeek is an annual program that inspires K-12 students to take an interest in CS. This year, our focus will be on the Impacts of Computing. “Impacts of Computing” refers to the positive and negative effects on various aspects of our lives, including education, privacy, security, and accessibility. A panel of 2023 CSHeroes will discuss these topics with a particular focus on Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science.

Leveraging AI Tools in the Classroom
  • Thursday, November 30th (6:30 to 8:00 PM)
  • Are you curious about how artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance your teaching practice? Join us for this virtual session where we will explore the basics of AI and how ChatGPT and Bing can help you with lesson planning, differentiation, and more. This session is ideal for anyone who wants to discover the possibilities of ChatGPT and Bing and how they can support your work as an educator. No experience necessary!

Getting Started with p5.js
  • Thursday, December 14th (6:30 to 8:00 PM)
  • Join us for this introductory session on p5.js, an open-source JavaScript Library that helps you draw, animate, and interact with graphics on the web. You will learn the basics of getting started with p5.js and begin exploring how to integrate into other subjects. This session is designed for educators who are new to CS and want to explore a user-friendly platform. No experience necessary!

CS & Me with Scratch Jr.
  • Thursday, January 25th (6:30 to 8:00 PM)
  • Learn how to code with Scratch Jr., a beginning programming language for making stories and games. In this session, you will learn how to use Scratch Jr. to support a lesson on identity. Participants will explore how Scratch Jr. can be used to promote creative and critical thinking in PK-2 learners! This session is for primary educators who want to bring CS to their students. No experience necessary!

Call for Proposals

2024 MNCodes Educator Summit: Call for Proposals
Code Savvy and CSTA-MN are excited to announce the Call for Proposals for the 2024 MNCodes Educator Virtual Summit! This year, our theme is ElevatED and hopes to highlight all of the hard work done by students, teachers, and community members across the state (and country!) for their work in advancing CS education. Proposals are open now until March 1st, 2024 for interactive presentations, workshops, labs and poster sessions.
